The Glass Jug (Durham, NC) is a retail craft beer store with a great selection of local and craft beer, featuring 16 rotating taps with an emphasis on seasonal brews, one-off special releases, and new collaborations with local breweries, in addition to all of your favorite craft beers, specialty wine, and cider.
TBJ's take: A comfortable, friendly and innovative Southwest Durham gem, perfectly suited for an after- work or weekend beer with friends. Craft beer, wines, cider; The Glass Jug always has you covered.
Sam's Bottle Shop (Durham, NC) is surely one the most well stocked craft beer bottle shops in the country. Once you walk through the doors you’ll know that you’ve found yourself in a malt and hops wonderland that will be hard to leave! Our title of largest beer selection in North Carolina is only shared with our predecessor Sam’s Quik Shop. With 1,600 different beers available at two locations Durham will never run dry!
TBJ's take: The latest venture from the folks at Sam's Quik Shop, Sam's Bottle Shop offers the southern side of Durham endless rows of coolers, 28 taps, cider, wine, and mead. Another home run from the guys at Sam's.
Bond Brothers (Cary, NC) is a NC craft brewery and taproom, located in the heart of downtown Cary, dedicated to producing high-quality ales and sours. Twin brothers Jay and Jeremy Bond have created a spacious brewery and taproom, as well as an outdoor beer garden, where there is room for all beer lovers!
TBJ's take: Absolutely love this place! Fantastic outdoor setting in a cool downtown, friendly bartenders and some of the best beer we've had in a long time! Plus, partnering with another pair of entrepreneurial brothers is a natural for TBJ.
Bulldega Urban Market (Durham, NC) is a family owned and operated grocery store serving Durham's vibrant downtown community with locally produced and artisan goods, humanely raised meat, unique products, and everyday necessities. They value Durham's commitment to locally produced goods and the farmers and families who produce them.
TBJ's take: It doesn't matter if you don't live downtown: take the train, take a bus, hitchhike, you have to come see Jay, Carly, Sean and the gang at Bulldega. If you live downtown, even better: saunter, pedal or moonwalk into the best little grocery store in town. TBJ got a hot tip about this place, stopped in, and knew we had to be a part of this great business and their mission.
The Hub and Pisgah Tavern (Brevard, NC) is located at the entrance to Pisgah National Forest and stands by their motto "BIKES.OUTDOOR GEAR. BEER." The Pisgah Tavern offers a rotating menu of 6 beers on tap and countless canned offerings. Whether you just got done with a ride or hike or maybe you just need to get some bike work done; come by, grab a beer and share your adventures.
TBJ's take: Brevard is a great little mountain town and The Hub and Pisgah Tavern embodies the best of this town's spirit. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about biking the local trails. And there's nothing better after a day on the parkway than cold beer on their patio.
Durty Bull (Durham, NC) is found in downtown Durham and uses old-world brewing techniques to bring you barrel-aged and sour beers as well as many other unconventional brews.
TBJ's take: This is our first barber shop, but Pat is a fantastic barber, a big fan of the jerky, and knows his customers are going to love TBJ. Old style barbershops are coming back and Pat has been at the forefront in Durham.
Hickory Nut Gap Farm (Fairview, NC) is a serene 90 acres nestled just outside Asheville. The land itself has been farmed by owner Jamie Ager’s family since 1916. Jamie and his wife Amy have been raising beef cattle, pigs, poultry, and apples at Hickory Nut Gap since 2000. Hickory Nut Gap Farm is more than a collection of pastures. It’s a gathering place for neighbors, visitors, and families — spend time picking berries, frolic in the creek, and get a firsthand view of a local food system and the animals we raise. The Farm Store offers fantastic sandwiches, all the great products of the farm, and other local sauces, sodas and pickled vegetables.
TBJ's take: Paul's kids loved this place when the family would spend summers in near by Bat Cave, North Carolina. Everything came full circle when we began partnering with Hickory Nut Gap Farms for their delicious grass fed beef. We never leave the farm store without steaks for dinner, a cool T-shirt, or some delicious local cheese.
Beer Study & Starpoint Brewing (Durham, NC) has a new Durham location and we’re excited to be a part of it! They have teamed up with Starpoint, a Carrboro-based brewery, and have them brewing in the back. Combined with the event space and arcade games in the backroom, this is the perfect bottle shop/brewery taproom!
TBJ’s take: This cool combo business is located in a shopping center which is only a block from Paul’s grandmother’s old house in the Forrest Hills neighborhood. Paul can still remember going with her to the Big Star grocery store when he would visit as a child. Now you can grab a beer in that same location and you can even bring your dog!
...And Beer Study in Chapel Hill now carries TBJ as well! Conveniently located downtown Chapel Hill and only a few streets over from Carrboro, they are proud to be known as Chapel Hill's first bottle shop with in-store drafts and seating.
TBJ's take: TBJ welcomes it's first foray into Chapel Hill, where Paul spent his college days. Love the town and love this fun little bottle shop!
Reid's Fine Foods (Charlotte, NC) is Charlotte's original hometown specialty food store providing superior meats, wines, regional provisions, locally grown produce and seasonally fresh meals & gift baskets to a very loyal customer base.
TBJ's take: We are thrilled to be carried in Reid's and to be in the Charlotte area. When visiting order a gourmet sandwich, browse their giant selection of meats, cheeses and desserts, then enjoy your bounty in their comfortable dining area.
Raleigh Provisions (Raleigh, NC) is Raleigh's downtown neighborhood market that focuses on locally grown, raised, baked and produced foods.This corner shop offers fresh bread, milk, meat and pantry items--all from North Carolina--including beer and wine.
TBJ's take: Proprietor Kim Hammer had a fantastic idea: a friendly, welcoming store with fresh local food products right smack in the middle of Raleigh. Dare you to get out of there without at least one small bag of deliciousness in your hands and a smile on your face. For us at TBJ, when we stopped by, it was local spicy pickles and honey from less than a mile away.
CLT Find (Charlotte, NC) is brand spanking new and located in the fabulous 7th Street Public Market in Uptown Charlotte. Three friends have joined forces to open this unique gift and goodies boutique with a Charlotte and N.C. theme. CLT Find and the market are a destination shopping and dining experience.
TBJ's take: The market experience here reminds us of GothamWest Market in NYC. Toni, Christy and Britt work hard to bring fashionable local products to this fun shop.
Haw River Farmhouse Ales (Saxapahaw, NC) is located right smack dab in the middle of Saxapahaw, North Carolina and stocked with a great variety of their own unique beers. Their brews are steeped in Belgian tradition, but elevated by local creativity through the usage of fresh, local ingredients from around the community, and their own yeast harvested right in Saxapahaw.
TBJ's take: We absolutely love everything about Saxapahaw from their general store, and ballroom, to the Saturday farmers market, and of course the gorgeous scenery of the Haw River. The Haw River Farmhouse Ales adds perfectly to the character of this town as owners, Ben and Dawnya, have brought together tradition and southern hospitality in the best way! Be sure to make your way out there and enjoy their local, hand crafted beers on their patio, which stays open year-round!
Joymongers Brewing Company (Greensboro, NC) is owned and operated by Greensboro natives and is the go-to neighborhood gathering spot. They are all about small batch brewing, which enables them to provide you with up to 17 of their finely crafted brews. They are not interested in packaging or distributing, and don’t aspire to get big and be bought out by national giants. They only want to provide the community with the freshest, most interesting variety of beers every day.
TBJ's take: We love the small family business style that Joymongers offers the town of Greensboro. It is they perfect chance to experiment with their cutting edge styles of beer, and we of course love that they welcome the four-legged members of the family!
Bull City Ciderworks (Durham, NC) ciders are made with 100% apple juice and never back-sweetened with high fructose corn syrup, so you taste the apple in all its glory! Gluten-free yeast and ingredients ensure a naturally gluten-free cider... They're crafting unique ciders that bridge the gap between wine and beer!
TBJ's take: Bull City Ciderworks new location is one of the coolest, fastest growing spots in downtown Durham. And if you think you know cider, let these folks show you just how interesting and amazing apple cider can really be!
Bottle 501 (Durham, NC) is a locally-owned neighborhood bar and bottle shop featuring an extensive retail selection of craft beer and wine with 16 rotating taps, a self-service Wine Station and daily beer and wine specials.
TBJ's take: Come upstairs to this cozy and well stocked little bottle shop. One of my favorite times there: a super rainy Thursday afternoon, some tasty sours, and good conversation about old-time rock and roll with their extremely personable staff. Their versatile atmosphere makes Bottle 501 the perfect place to unexpectedly stumble upon your "best day ever"!
The Butcher's Market (Cary, NC) is brought to the triangle area by a father/son team who's focus is to sell quality products at a fair price, and to deliver them with unmatched hospitality in a convenient and fun shopping environment! This is certainly a go to butcher shop for premium meats and specialty grocery.
TBJ's take: We can't walk in this store and see the amazing selection of top quality meat without wanting to fire up the grill! Throw in a super friendly staff and this is a store you wont walk out of without a bag full of some seriously good eats!
NOFO @ the Pig (Raleigh, NC) is a combination cafe, food market, and gift shop located in the historic Five Points Business District in Raleigh, North Carolina. NOFO's focus is on all things North Carolina and the South. It promotes "Love Living Local" with a wealth of carefully chosen products to eat, drink, wear, read, listen to, use, and enjoy from Tarheel and Southern food artisans, entrepreneurs, designers, farmers, craftsmen, musicians, and artists.
TBJ's take: TBJ got an extra special welcome the staff at NOFO and the folks from the surrounding Five Points neighborhood. A great cafe and a gift shop, Paul was able to pick up Mother's Day gitfs and was treated to some of the most delicious shrimp and grits he's ever tasted. Check this place out!
The Village Butcher Market & Cafe (New Bern, NC) has been providing fresh, local, homemade selections for over 25 years. They have a wide selection of quality meat and seafood and offer a large assortment of North Carolina-made products including honey, relishes and jams, pickles, peanuts, dry rubs and delicious herbs. Their deli features select deli meats and cheeses, and they have fresh and frozen prepared meals available for your convenience.
TBJ's take: TBJ is excited to be moving eastward to this awesome New Bern location! The Village Butcher & Market is your one-stop-shop for any and all things food related. Whether you're grabbing a deli sandwich on your lunch break, stocking up on fresh cut meat, or in search of something to take home for dinner, you'll be sure to leave here nothing short of satisfied!
Provisions Waxhaw (Waxhaw, NC) is a local, family owned business located on Waxhaw's historic Main Street. Provisions offers fresh breakfast and lunch cooked to order 7 days a week, and sells goods that are made or grown by local farmers and producers such as dairy, eggs, meats and bakery items.
TBJ's take: So you know another thing that's great about North Carolina's exciting and diverse big cities? They are often in close proximity to the coolest little small towns. On the outskirts of the Queen City, Waxhaw is a vibrant little town that supports fun businesses like Provisions Waxhaw! Get your local food on at this Waxhaw mainstay.
The Gorge (Saluda, NC) America's steepest and fastest zipline canopy tour, offers a thrilling tree-based aerial adventure in Saluda, North Carolina. Beginning perched on the rim of the Green River Gorge, you descend an unprecedented 1,100 vertical feet in elevation zipping from tree-top to tree-top on 11 ziplines, traversing a sky-bridge, and descending 3 huge rappels, all through stunning old growth protected Green River Game Lands.
TBJ's take: Paul's family has been doing this great zipline for years so the whole crew was excited when we got the chance to partner up with Sara and Tim at the Gorge Zipline. One added bonus if you are a nature lover, the guides at the Gorge are knowledgeable about all of the flora and fauna in Western North Carolina. This is an experience you don't want to miss!
Gingham & Posh (Raleigh, NC) was founded in 2006, and offers stylish gift baskets, perfect for any occasion. Their baskets are made each day, per order, and never produced in mass quantity. Each treat has been sampled and approved by the staff at G&P. They pride themselves in using the most delicious cookies, candies, chocolates, crackers, chips, nuts, jams, wines, and as of late, fresh TBJ!
TBJ take: We love the unique personal touch that goes into every basket over at Gingham & Posh. The staff is extremely friendly and excited about all of the cool treats available for pulling off the gift basket of a lifetime! This is surely a stop you want to make for your next gift-giving occasion.
The Butchers Market (Raleigh, NC) in North Raleigh offers the same premium meat and specialty grocery as their Cary location, and they now carry fresh TBJ! Falling nothing short of expectations, this location matches the same convenient and fun shopping environment we've come to love over at their store in Cary.
TBJ's take: We couldn't help but to be excited about extending our partnership with the folks over at The Butchers Market. The friendly staff and endless selection of grocery and meat make it a no-brainer when it comes to finding both high quality food and people!
Archetype Brewing (Asheville, NC) started out as an idea in 2016 and came into fruition in early 2017. The company's focus is to produce clean, true-to-style American and Belgian- inspired ales. They believe creativity is one of the driving forces behind the craft beer industry, but they also believe that quality should come first. Because of that, they strive to make high-quality, creatively complex beers to stand alongside their flagships.
House of Hops (Raleigh, NC) is a craft beer shop in North Raleigh with over 400 different beers available. It has a spacious, dog-friendly outdoor patio and frequently brings in food trucks.
Wine Sage and Gourmet (Hendersonville, NC) is a wine and gourmet shop located on Main Street in downtown Hendersonville. With wine tastings and a variety of kitchen gadgets, Wine Sage and Gourmet is a great place to spend an afternoon or pick up a gift for a friend.
